FORMER NSW premier Mike Baird will resume his former career as a banker with National Australia Bank.
NAB on Tuesday said Mr Baird, who quit politics in January saying he was retiring from politics to spend more time with his family, will join as chief customer officer for the lender’s corporate and institutional banking unit.
“His time as treasurer and premier of New South Wales means he returns to banking and NAB with invaluable experience in leading economic and financial reform to grow the economy,” NAB chief executive Andrew Thorburn said.
“Mike has outstanding leadership and a determination to drive change and make a difference by building relationships with customers and the community.”
NAB said, in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, that Mr Baird will take up the role in April. Mr Baird started his career as a banker with NAB in 1989 and worked for Deutsche Bank and HSBC before entering politics.
